     1. INSTALLING THE PLUGIN

*****************************************************************

To install the plugin, unzip the files into the Bethesda Softworks directory.

NIF files go in a folder named pharlan under the meshes directory.
Textures go in the textures directory but a few go in a ph subdirectory under textures.

If you have downloaded this plugin before, some of the textures will be replaced as
will some of the hairstyles.
be sure to replace the esp when upgrading. You should be able to change heads by
using the enableracemenu command.

Note
This plugin was developed using version 1.6.1820 of Morrowind.
It should run correctly on other versions but has not been tested.

*****************************************************************

     2. PLAYING THE PLUGIN

*****************************************************************

From the Morrowind Launcher, select Data Files and check the box
next to the SG_Pharlan_std_3_5-BB.esp file.

This plugin adds a new playable race called the Pharlans

*****************************************************************

     3. Save Games

*****************************************************************

This plugin has been cleaned with TESAME. Since this is a new
race it means you'll have to start a new game. If you want to use the
functions of the Carnivore and hand-to-hand plugins you should include
these at the start of your game but they may also be added later.

You should backup your saved game before adding any new esp files to it.

     4. About this mod

*****************************************************************
This mod creates a new playable race. They have almost all
completely new textures-not just re-colored. The race is designed
to be balanced but fun to play. Pharlans are given several bonuses
inlcuding a 5X magicka bonus, a no cost flying spell, detect creatures
and night eye constant effect (not ridiculously powerful) and
a 70% spell absorbtion.

They are balanced by a 100% weakness to normal weapons as well
as stunted magicka. However you are also given a no cost magicka
absorption spell. This makes every living thing a magicka
source (this is why you have a detect creatures spell). You also
start with 15 fewer total stat points than other races. You'll definitely
feel the normal weapons weakness-especially early on.

NEW with this version is better bodies. There will be some clipping with original
Bethesda clothes and armor - but it is fairly minimal.
Female better bodies UPPER clothing will not work for female pharlans since they
do not have breasts. Both sexes can wear any better bodies clothing that replaces the lower
body. Pharlan specific clothing is in the works and will be included in a separate mod.

ALSO included in this mod

Innate armor - changed in this version

When you enter Seyda neen you will find a pile of feathers. These are the
Pharlan's innate armor.

These feathers are light armor that looks the same as a Pharlan's skin.
It is non-enchantable (kinda hard to enchant your own skin)

-Pauldrons are 60 (same as ebony)
-Greaves are 40 (same as indoril)
-Gauntlets are 50 (same as glass)
-cuirass is 30 (same as orcish and DB armor)
The cuirass will no longer crash morrowind so if you want to sell your worthless feather armor, it won't crash.
SHould be somewhat more balanced.

The interesting aspect of this is you can wear clothes under the armor but they won't show up.
NPCs however won't react to you as if you were naked as long as you are wearing clothes under the armor.

(In my true vision of the pharlans - pharlans don't wear many clothes anyway)

This armor does make pharlans somewhat stronger.
It has been toned down from the intial version as it seemed to be somewhat unbalanced
at early levels.

Pharlans were originally designed to be armored creatures
essentially the "feathers" are meant to be strong yet flexible scales that LOOK like feathers.
I did not think of a way to address this until well after the Pharlan mod was originally released.

The armor is placed in the game as a pile of feathers
(quill pens) in Seyda Neen.

You can get item based flight by speaking with a female pharlan NPC.
She is located on top of the lighthouse in Seyda Neen.
There are three other pharlan NPCs added to the game each has their own dialogue but
they don't give you anything special other than dialogue.
They are there for you to find, it probably won't be easy.

You can also swap to an alternative *scripted* gameplay style
via a set of console commands.
This style reduces the normal weapons weakness to 50%
Removes the spell absorbption
Gives immuntiy to poison and ice
Script Heals and restores magic when hit by fire or electricity

To try this type this into the console:

player->removespell Pharl_pride
Player->addspell pharl_pride3
Startscript pharl_absorb_main

To switch back:

player->addspell Pharl_pride2
Player->removespell pharl_pride3
Stopscript pharl_absorb_main
